Activity Plan Year 2007/2008

It will be described into two main categories which will bring many positive impacts to the local working professionals and Korean community.

Professional Development - Technology Symposium, Networking, Career enhancement and Entrepreneurship

• KSEA-SD Science & Engineering Symposium (Nov 10, 2007) at Beckman Amphitheater, TSRI is planned. The Symposium will be followed by banquet and KSEA SD General Meeting.
• Bio Seminar (monthly) at UCSD Beckman Center: supported periodic seminars on various topics in the bio tech area drawing audience from many local research institutes such as TSRI, Salk, Burnham, UCSD, LIAI, etc.
• YG Conference (Jan 2008): Nationwide YG conference
• SC-SD Joint Golf Tournament (Sep 2007 & Mar 2008): Joint golf tournament with KSEA Southern Cal Chapter
• KWiSE/KSEA Christmas Party (Dec 2007) Jointly organized with KWiSE
• Executive Committee MT (Jan 2008) EC Leadership & Collaboration Seminar at Big Bear
• Korean Soccer Tournament (Apr 2008): will be sponsored a soccer team comprising local scientists and engineers to participate in the annual tournament organized by Korean Association

Community Outreach - Promote Math/Science, Mentoring, Ferment Global Vision

• Computer Class for Korean Community (Beginner: Sep 2007 8wks & Intermediate: Jan 2008 8wks): designed to increase and strengthen students’ computer skill by focusing on real-life situations thereby increasing their involvement in their community. Using a variety of interactive activities, exercises and assignments become more comfortable and competent computer users.
• KSEA-NMC (Apr 2008): will be organized the annual event with many volunteers from YG and KWiSE.
• Promote Korean heritage (Apr 2008) - During NMC, special Seminar for the parents by local Korean School principal on teaching Korean language for 2nd generation Korean kids will be also planned.
• YG Forum in Korea (Jul 2008): will be actively involved by local YG.
